(I’m not really sure how this prayer relates to the previous post by Joe, but this is what the Lord laid on my heart this morning!)

8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Father, we live in an unbelievably corrupt, godless day, in which we are bombarded by hundreds of impure images each and every day.  Protect us from the evil one, and grant us to strive for the purity of heart without which none will see You (Matt. 5:8, Hebrews 12:14).  Set our minds this day on the greatness and beauty of Christ, for He is the embodiment of all that is pure, lovely, commendable and excellent.  You alone are worthy of praise; fill our thoughts and affections with the fullness of Your perfections, and keep us from thoughts of worthless things.  We have died, and our lives are now hidden with Christ in You; so free us, I pray, to set our minds on things above, where Christ is seated at Your right hand (Col. 3:1-3).
