Monday’s Last Word November 13, 2006

Maybe Joe will get in one more post, but I am off to bed.  It is a familiar Word, but as I came across it this afternoon the Lord blessed me with a fresh love for it:

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.” (Jude 24-25)

What an unfathomably sweet word!  That I, so weak-hearted in my affection for Jesus and so often lured away from Christ by the fleeting pleasures of the world, should one day be brought into the presence of God Almighty blameless, and with great joy; this is staggering!  How deep is the love of God to His beloved, that He binds our ever-wandering hearts to Himself and will complete the good work that He has begun in us.  Though we see Him so dimly now, the day is coming when He will bring us into His presence.  And rather than be destroyed by the fury of His wrath, as we justly deserve, we will instead delight ourselves in fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore at His right hand (Psalm 16:11).

There is no better truth to go to sleep with than that!
