” 1Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! 2Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! 3Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! 4Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! 5Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created.” (Psalm 148:1-5)

Father, may we join the psalmist in his holy ambition to see all of creation join in the praise of Your glory.  So much of our time and energy is expended in getting people to be impressed with us.  But you created us, that our lives would be used as instruments for the hallowing of Your name.  As the psalmist exhorted all of creation to sing Your praises, use our words and our conduct and our affection for You to commend Christ to others for their eternal enjoyment.  Be pleased to use us, Lord, for that great and holy purpose for which You created the world: that Your glory might fill the earth, as the waters cover the sea!
