Thursday Morning Prayer January 4, 2007

Posted by larrylaz in Prayer.

“Therefore thus says the Lord God: Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on the whole house of Israel, and I will be jealous for my holy name” (Ezekiel 39:25).

Father, we are grateful for Your mercies that are new this morning, and we rejoice that the foundation of these mercies is the intense passion that You have for the exaltation of Your great name. You are jealous for Your holy name. Over and over in Your Word You reveal a mighty passion for Your fame to be displayed throughout the world: “My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord Almighty” (Mal. 1:11). It is because of this jealousy to make a name for Yourself that You shower good upon Your people, in order that we might be vessels which display Your great mercy and love. We are eternally thankful, Lord, for choosing as vessels of mercy, to whom You have been pleased to make known the riches of Your glory in Christ (Romans 9:23). Help us to partake in Your passion for Your name, Lord. May Christ be magnified in all that we do, whether by life or by death (Philippians 1:20). Empower us to live in such a way that reveals the name and renown of Jesus to be our most precious treasure.
