Friday Morning Prayer January 12, 2007

Posted by larrylaz in Prayer.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9)

It is only by Your grace, Lord, that we have been called out of darkness and into the glorious Kingdom of Your light. What a high calling it is, to be a chosen race and a royal priesthood. You have bought us at a price, Lord; the price was the shed blood of Your beloved Son. By that amazing sacrifice You have made us Your treasured possession. And the purpose of that great sacrifice, according to Peter, is that we proclaim Your excellencies. So help us this day, to remind ourselves of the glories which have been revealed to us in the face of Christ. Help us to love Christ with a love that is incorruptible, a love so white hot with passion that we would be unable to keep silent about the riches of Your glory. May not only our words, but our whole lives, be a proclamation that Christ is indeed great, and greatly to be praised. Use our lives to rescue others out of darkness and bring them into Your marvelous light.
