“7If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” (Genesis 4:7)

Satan is a crafty enemy, prowling around like a roaring lion, seeking some to devour. Guard us, Father, from his temptations. You tell us that if we resist him, he will flee from us. And the way we resist him is by faith: “Resist him, firm in your faith…” (1 Peter 5:9). Give us strength today, O God, to fight the fight of faith and resist the allure of sin. Only a superior delight in the Your precious promises will reveal to us the ugliness of sin. Help us to see You as You are, that we may not be tempted to seek our satisfaction in the fleeting pleasures of sin.
