10 O you who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the lives of his saints;
he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for the righteous,
and joy for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
and give thanks to his holy name! (Psalm 97:10-12)

O Father, give us a holy hatred of all that dishonors You.  You have told us that a part of genuine love is that we abhor what is evil (Romans 12:9).  Move upon our hearts to flee from all evil, and grant that we would rejoice in Your commandments, which are more precious than much fine gold and silver.  Help us to give thanks today for the grace shown to us on the Cross, which not only purchased forgiveness from all our sins, but which also teaches us to say ‘no’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, so that we might live upright and godly lives in this present age (Titus 2:11ff).  Preserve our hearts, Lord that we might love You and crucify all that is left in us which is contrary to the love of Your glory.  Sanctify us by the Truth, Lord, lest we be conformed to this world.  Set us apart as Your chosen possession, testifying ceaselessly to the gospel of Your grace in our speech and in our conduct.
