“32They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” 33And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, 34saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”” (Luke 24:32-34)

Father, You have been so gracious to us in giving us Your Word, which reveals the riches of Your glory to us for our everlasting enjoyment.  Help us this day to love Your Word.  Make our hearts burn within us with love and admiration for You, as we behold the portrait of You displayed in Your Word.  And once our hearts burn within us, make us unable to hold it in.  As the hearts of these men burned, and then immediately they went out and spoke to their fellow disciples, open our mouths to testify to Your greatness.  As the disciples in the early church said, “We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20).   Make it so with us, Lord.  Fill us with such a deep and overflowing love for You that we would be unable to keep silent about You.
