Joe,

I’m re-reading Mahaney’s Living the Cross Centered Life, and came across this great quote from John Calvin:

When we behold the disfigurement of the Son of God, when we find ourselves apalled by his marred appearance, we need to reckon afresh that it is upon ourselves we gaze, for he stood in our place.

What a staggering thought: that He who knew no sin became sin for us, that in Him we might become the righteousness of God!

We can never grow weary of marveling at the wondrous Cross of Christ. May we boast in nothing else,

Larry
