Joe,

Thanks for making my workload easier, brother, for I can’t say it much better than that! You are certainly right that we need to see the quote in context to know what he really meant. Yet sadly, I came across it in isolation, without any clarifying content, which is pretty dangerous. And as you pointed out in your second point, in isolation it really contradicts the teaching of Scripture, as you showed us in Joshua 1.

So now that I don’t have to write any more on that, I plan to write tomorrow morning about a little lesson I learned the other day at a wedding.
