For you are not a God who delights in wickedness;
evil may not dwell with you.
The boastful shall not stand before your eyes;
you hate all evildoers.
You destroy those who speak lies;
the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
will enter your house. (Psalm 5:4-7)

Help us, Father, to stand in wonder at the depths of Your steadfast love poured out to Your people on the Cross.  You are perfectly holy, so that no evil can dwell with You.  Yet we have freely chosen to be enslaved to sin and in our flesh we take delight in evil.  Therefore we are alienated from You and without hope in the world.  How staggering, then, to hear You say that through the abundance of Your steadfast love, we are able to enter Your house.  That steadfast love was demonstrated once and for all on the Cross, where You conquered sin and death and purchased for us a new heart that would delight in Your commands.  Help us to be filled with joy over this amazing love, and to be instruments through which You would spread this glorious gospel.
